Rep. Shaw named Chairman of House Industry & Labor Committee
ATLANTA - State Rep. Jason Shaw (R-Lakeland) has been appointed by Speaker David Ralston and the Committee on Assignments to serve as Chairman of the House Industry & Labor Committee.
The Industry & Labor Committee handles all legislation dealing with labor and management relations. It also has jurisdiction on laws involving worker's compensation and the Georgia Worker's Compensation Board.
"I am honored that the Speaker and the members of the Committee on Assignments selected me to serve as the Chairman of this very important committee," Rep. Shaw said. "One of our primary duties in the legislative branch of government is to help generate more employment opportunities by supporting Georgia businesses and a strong workforce. This committee deals with crucial pieces of legislation that affect all Georgians, and I am eager to begin working with my fellow committee members to tackle issues that are most important to the citizens of this state."
First elected in 2010, Rep. Shaw represents House District 176, which includes all of Atkinson and Lanier counties and portions of Lowndes and Ware counties. He also serves on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development, the House Economic Development & Tourism Committee, the House Game, Fish & Parks Committee, the House Insurance Committee and the House Small Business Development Committee.
